This role is advertised to recruit a highly motivated, professional individual to join the national Counter Terrorism effort, as part of a specialised regional team, to deliver security advice to locations which are more vulnerable to attack from terrorists and domestic extremists. Although you will be employed by Bedfordshire Police the vacancies are for positions located in Cambridgeshire, Essex and Norfolk. Given the nature of the CT effort there may be a requirement any throughout the Eastern Region based on operational need.

This is a great opportunity to join a team of people who are dedicated to this cause, through carrying out surveys to help risk assess those locations. They provide expert advice to both police and external agencies through presentations and meetings, and thereby increasing the resilience and protection of our communities.

The role of a CTSA involves conducting surveys and retaining ongoing liaison at numerous key sites which constitute a crowded place, contain hazardous materials, or represent critical infrastructure.

As a strategic representative of your host force, the post holder will be required to show personal drive, an ability to work alone but also as part of a team, show good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels with confidence. The post holder must be able to demonstrate good IT skills, evidence of problem solving and high level of Personal Responsibility. The post holder will have good Community and Customer focus and planning skills.

Hours of work will be 37 hours per week primarily between 8am and 6pm, however flexibility will be required as there is a necessity to work some unsocial hours and call-outs. The successful candidate will be required to travel for business purposes and must have a full driving licence.

The successful candidate will be subject to a probationary period not exceeding twenty four months. During this probationary period they will have to successfully attain the relevant Certificate of Occupational Competence or qualification as determined by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO).

Due to the level and cost of training involved and provided there will be a pay back clause attached to this role.

There will be a presentation as part of this recruitment process.

This post is deemed to be a ‘designated’ post which means that you will be subject to management vetting as per Bedfordshire Police policy.

This position may be suitable for part time working, subject to continuity and resourcing being achieved.
