****Due to a change in structure within the BCH collaborated Unit, an exciting opportunity has become available for a full time Business Manager within the newly centralised Firearms and Explosives licensing Department based at the Monks Wood site in Cambridgeshire.

If you are a self-motivated, experienced supervisor/manager with a proven track record of leading and developing a team, formulation of standard operating procedures and developing cost effective and efficient administration processes within a busy, friendly working environment then this could be the job for you.

The Primary role of the Firearms and explosives licensing unit is to grant firearms, shotgun and explosives certificates to applicants who have a valid reason for possessing them, and who are assessed to pose no threat risk of harm to public safety under the provisions of the Firearms Act 1968, using a risk assessed approach, and applying the National Decision Making Model.

The Primary role of the Business Manager is the day to day tactical supervision of FEL business services and administration team, ensuring the department has efficient and effective processes and procedures which are cost effective and achieve force targets. This includes supervising staff, managing resources, and driving performance by developing efficient tasking methods, and providing administrative and technical expertise to the department.

The post holder will be primary SPOC for all technical aspects of the administration process ensuring compliance for national guidelines, and data quality, particularly with regard to the NFLMS and PNC and exploiting all available local and national I.T systems and initiatives.

They will ensure that the department has the ability to provide management information to SMT and Exec regarding performance of the department and individuals within it.

They will identify and exploit opportunities for change and continuous improvement.
They will also be responsible for training and mentoring of Firearms administrators, and work as part of a decision making management team to ensure all resources are being used effectively across the department.
