*****Due to a change in structure within the BCH collaborated Unit, a number of exciting opportunities have become available for full time administrators within the Firearms and Explosives licensing Department based within the newly centralised team at Monks Wood site in Cambridgeshire.

This is a fixed site role not suitable for agile working, so the ability to travel to and work from Monks Wood is essential.

If you are a self-motivated, experienced administrator who is interested in being part of a specialist administration team working in a busy, friendly environment then this could be the job for you.

The Primary role of the Firearms and explosives licensing unit is to grants firearms, shotgun and explosives certificates to applicants who have a valid reason for possessing them, and who are assessed to pose no threat risk of harm to public safety under the provisions of the Firearms Act 1968, using a risk assessed approach, and applying the National Decision Making Model.

The administrators within the team are directly supervised by the business manager, and require the ability to follow complex procedures in line with
Firearms legislation, and perform a varied and wide range of administrative duties such as;

• High quality and accurate data entry maintaining various databases such as NFLMS and PNC.
• Sorting and distributing mail.
• Providing administrative assistance to the FEO, decision making and management teams.
• Answering telephone enquiries from members of public and other forces.
• Dealing with the unit e-mail box.

Ideally you will have previous experience in an administrative role, a good standard of written and verbal communication, be a proficient user in Microsoft word and Excel and will possess a positive and flexible attitude with a strong team ethic. You will also have a proven ability to interrogate computer systems, draw information and make assessments on the findings for presentation to FEO’s and/or decision makers.

You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of Firearms legislation.
