***The Scientific Services Unit for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire is one of the leading Scientific Services Units in the country and now has exciting opportunities for successful candidates to join this Unit as Volume Crime Scene Examiners. There are currently vacancies across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire but we are also looking to recruit for any future vacancies that may occur in all three counties over the next 12 months.

The successful candidates will join a team of Volume Crime Scene Examiners carrying out crime scene examinations in relation to volume crime offences, normally up to burglary although occasionally there will be a need to support Scenes of Crime Officers in the examination of more serious crime. Usually crime scenes are examined by locally based officers but occasionally there will be need for staff to be deployed anywhere in the three counties.

A qualification or experience in crime scene examination or other forensic disciplines would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided to prove competence in the accredited skills required to carry out the role. The Scientific Services Unit utilises a vacancy based career progression scheme to fill scenes of crime positions at a higher level.

The vacancies are full time and cover a shift pattern working between 08:00 hours and 22:00 hours seven days of the week. The role attracts un-social working allowance and weekend working allowance. All successful candidates will be required to live within 30 miles or 45 minutes standard commute (whichever is shorter) from their posted base.

Scientific Services endeavor to reflect the diverse communities we serve and to build an inclusive workforce where everyone is valued and respected. We actively encourage applications from underrepresented or minority groups.

For the purposes of the application you will be expected to provide evidence against the four personal qualities below and the entry requirements:

• We are emotionally aware
• We take ownership
• We are collaborative
• We analyse critically

Please refer to the role profile for the entry requirements.

There is a word count limit of 500 words per section.
