There is an exciting opportunity to work within the Children and Young People team dedicated to keeping children and young people from being victims, and to prevent them entering into, or escalating up, the criminal justice system.

We currently have vacancies for a November 2015 start in the Targeted Youth Services (TYS) team, supporting the TYS constables. This role is based at Waford but covers the Three Rivers CSP. In this role you would support the constables in their work with offenders and victims, assist in running reparation activities such as workshops and projects, design and deliver appropriate diversionary activities, and work with partners to keep children and young people from offending.

The CYP PCSO role does involve some shift work, to enable the reparation activities and reprimand/final warning events to take place, and to enable children to be dealt with when parents are home from work. The shift pattern involves some evening shifts and occasional Saturdays.

The CYP PCSO role is very rewarding as you will see the benefits of your work in the short term as well as becoming skilled in long-term problem solving and decision making.

Overview of the Selection Process; You should complete the on-line application to apply for the role of PCSO, if you are successful following short listing you will then be invited to undertake the Police Initial Recruitment Test (PIRT). You will need to pass this test in order to be invited to the final stage which is a competency based interview.

If successful following these three stages you will have to undergo a number of pre-employment checks including vetting, health-screening medical and references. Successful candidates will also be required to pass a fitness test as they are expected to be on active patrol (on foot or bicycle) for their shift of 8 hours.

Due to this role involving shift work, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment by the Occupational Health and Safety Department.

Start dates are dependent on a number of factors including all pre-employment checks being completed and satisfactory.
