We will work with you to maximise these skills (and others) to the utmost potential so you can work to maintain the highest possible levels of public safety. You will need a current full UK manual driving licence.

Hours of work; The Police Community Support Officer role involves working a rotating shift pattern to cover a 40 hour week, including working some weekends and evenings to 23:00, although it is possible that flexible working patterns could be considered.

Overview of the Selection Process; You should complete the on-line application to apply for the role of PCSO, if you are successful following short listing you will then be invited to undertake the Police Initial Recruitment Test (PIRT). You will need to pass this test in order to be invited to the final stage which is a competency based interview.

If successful following these three stages you will have to undergo a number of pre-employment checks including vetting, health-screening medical and references. Successful candidates will also be required to pass a fitness test as they are expected to be on active patrol (on foot or bicycle) for their shift of 8 hours.

Start dates are dependent on a number of factors including all pre-employment checks being completed satisfactorily. However the next key dates are as follows…

Initial assessment: 12th January 2014
Interview dates: 21st January 2014
