Applications are invited for anticipated Assistant Investigator vacancies within the File Build Unit based at Watford Police Station.

This role involves the building of files for trials in Magistrates Courts. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated team that ensures a first class service is provided to victims, investigating officers and to the Crown Prosecution Service.

You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills as in additional to report writing, your role may require you to deal with victims, witnesses, and the police officers involved in these cases. As an Assistant Investigator you will be required to research and update corporate computer systems therefore accuracy and attention to detail are vital.

You will also need to work on your own initiative and manage your time effectively in a busy environment, ensuring that prosecution files are completed within the required timeframes.

File preparation and related investigation will be conducted mostly within Police premises but circumstances may necessitate outside enquiries. Exceptionally you may need to use designated powers to investigate offences, interview suspects, and search premises.

Skills and Competencies required include :-
An understanding of the Criminal Justice System
Ability to work with the Public in a customer facing role
Ability to prepare documentation for prosecution files .
Ability to input to and interrogate computer databases

The File Preparation Unit works office hours of 0800-1600 from Monday to Friday.
