An exciting opportunity has arisen within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire’s Scientific Support Unit.

From September 2015, all fingerprint examination work will be carried out from a single site bureau based in the purpose built Peter Sharpe building at Welwyn Garden City HQ. The bureau is primarily responsible for analysing, comparing, evaluating and verifying fingerprint and crime scene marks utilising Ident 1, the national fingerprint system.

A vacancy has arisen for a Fingerprint Reporting officer who will be responsible for the processing and final checking of all case work including major crime ensuring the integrity of the evidence. The successful applicant will be required to prepare and present fingerprint evidence as an expert witness at court, and therefore will need to be a qualified, experienced and registered UK Fingerprint expert. There may also be the need to attend crime scenes and mortuaries to carry out effective fingerprint examination and recovery.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join this new tri-force team who has outstanding communication skills as well as excellent attention to detail.
