Applications are invited from motivated, enthusiastic hardworking individuals for the post of Digital Forensic Examiner based at Bedfordshire Police Headquarters in Kempston within the Digital Forensic Unit.

Bedfordshire Police is a forward thinking force which has invested in its digital forensic unit over the last few years and continues to do so. It has accreditation to ISO17025 along with its partner labs in Cambridgeshire and ERSOU. Bedfordshire provides technical support at a local and regional level, contributing resources to tackling the increasing threat of cyber and digitally supported criminality.

As a Digital Forensic Examiner you will be managing and examining technically complex cases which could involve high risk of threat or harm. This includes the initial forensic extraction of digital data and combining specialist software, with your own analytical skills, to establish a user’s activity. Beyond this, investigators will need your advice and support in the handling, recovery and preservation of digital evidence. You will produce technical and well-structured reports to present during court proceedings. It should be known that successful candidates will be in an environment which is exposed to indecent images.

It is desirable that applicants will hold a relevant computing degree, preferably computer science, with an insight to computer forensics, any industry related digital forensics qualifications or certifications, and experience of at least two years working within the digital forensics environment.

All applicants should be able to evidence and demonstrate experience and knowledge in using and understanding the workings of different operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Mac and Linux.

The successful candidate could also evidence qualifications and experience in the use of forensic tools such as EnCase, FTK, Internet Evidence Finder and mobile forensics tools such as XRY and Cellebrite UFED. Such relevant qualifications will allow discussions as to an increased starting salary.

All Examiners are subject to a ‘return on investment’ system. Should you decide to leave within a set period of time then courses will be chargeable at specific percentage rates.

For the purposes of the application you will be expected to provide evidence against the four personal qualities below and the entry requirements:

- We take ownership
- We deliver, support and inspire
- We analyse critically
- We are innovative and open-minded

There is a word count limit of 500 words per section.

Selection will be by paper sift and interview, with a short written test, all based on skill categories, essential, desirable and advanced criteria.

**All applications must be submitted through our online recruitment website by clicking the apply button below**

**Please note that this advert will be live to redeployees throughout the recruitment of this advert. Any redeployee that applies will only need to evidence against the minimum entry requirements of the role profile. To do this if you are a redeployee, write ‘Redeployee’ in the other competency boxes and just complete your evidence against the minimum entry requirements in the relevant box. Redeployees will take priority over other candidates at any point during the recruitment process up until a final offer is produced and you will be notified if this happens.**
