Police Staff - Operations Planner - Surveillance: Full time vacancy based in Hertfordshire.

This is a vacancy for a highly motivated and professional individual to be at the heart of the Pursue strand of Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP). The post is based in Hertfordshire where you will work in support of a CTP surveillance team.

The role of the Surveillance Planner is to provide a full planning and preparation function to the CTP surveillance team, provide support as required during live deployments, complete statistical returns, reports and administration duties.

The post holder will be expected to research planned surveillance deployments, produce operational orders and deliver pre-deployment briefings, therefore, keyboard skills and research are a vital part of this role.

The post holder will also be expected to represent the region at national meetings.

Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.

To be eligible to apply the applicant must be able to provide evidence of operational knowledge around covert surveillance.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting and Security Clearance or Development Vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. If you hold dual nationality, one component of which is British, you may also be considered. However, if successful, you may be asked to relinquish your non‐British nationality (and any entitlement you may have to a foreign nationality) as a condition of your confirmation of appointment with ECTIU. One of your parents should also be British or have substantial ties to the UK. In the latter instance; substantial ties means that your parent is a citizen of a British Overseas Territory, a Commonwealth citizen, US citizen, EEA citizen, British national or citizen overseas, and they would need to have demonstrable connections with the UK by way of family history or have been resident here for a substantial period of time.

If you’re already married to, or cohabiting with, a person who isn’t a British citizen, you may still be eligible for employment at the discretion of the department. You should note however, that marriage to, or cohabitation with, a person who isn’t a British citizen after appointment may, in some circumstances, result in the withdrawal of security clearance and subsequent transfer to another department, or (if this is not possible or the officer does not wish to transfer) dismissal. Each case will be considered on its merits, taking into account the ties between the person involved and the United Kingdom.

You will be expected to provide written evidence around the following competencies and the minimum entry requirements from the role profile:
- We take ownership
- We deliver, support and inspire
- We analyse critically
- We are innovative and open-minded.

Please note there is a 500 words limit for each competency.
