The successful candidates will be fully immersed in the team’s activity and will undertake the full range of duties when it comes to researching and preparing for surveillance deployment, searching both overt and covert, suspect and witness interviewing and other supportive roles within the investigative process. You will also demonstrate leadership through assisting operational commanders to deliver successful proactive operations and be able to deliver structured feedback to peers through de-brief sessions.

This challenging role is an exciting and rewarding opportunity but it isn’t for everyone. A flexible approach to duty times will be absolutely key and accepting hours can change at short notice will be rewarded by the success of the team in keeping residents of Hertfordshire safe. Most of your duties will be surveillance based but you will be provided with all the skills you need to be successful. Training in internal systems will be provided as will training on legislation that governs the powers you will utilise such as Regulation Investigatory Powers Act and the newly introduced Investigatory Power Act 2016.

Prior to appointment applicants will need to demonstrate their current surveillance accreditation or evidence of being so qualified in the past two years. This will need to be able to be validated as will evidence of Advanced driver (or equivalent) qualification within the last 5 years. Applicants that can do so, if successful during paper sift will be required to undertake an advanced check-drive with the driving school before progressing.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management vetting and Security Clearance, before taking up the post. Please be aware that the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates which will include financial checks.
