The Force Communications Room at Hertfordshire Constabulary Headquarters based in Welwyn Garden City, is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As a result, we have the ability to offer a variety of full-time and part-time opportunities. There is a core full-time shift pattern, comprising earlies, lates and nights, but we also have opportunities for those not wishing to work shifts or who would prefer just mornings or evening. We are happy to discuss any alternative as long as it meets a minimum of sixteen hours per week and operational demand requirements. Individual shift patterns can be negotiated and agreed following success at the assessment and interview, prior to an employment offer being issued.

Our Communications Operators answer emergency and non-emergency calls and direct resources across the County.

As one of the team, you’ll receive extensive training and on-the-job support to prepare you for the challenging variety of calls and roles ahead.

No matter what type of call comes in, your compassion, patience and professionalism must remain and that means thinking on your feet whilst providing reassurance and obtaining the relevant information to enable the correct deployment of appropriate police responses as necessary.

In return we will offer you an attractive salary and a busy operational role where you can play a key part in protecting the public from harm.

The application process involves an application form, an assessment (including a typing test) and if successful at assessment an interview. We are recruiting for a pool of people for intakes over the next six to twelve months.

For an informal chat or to find out more about the role, please contact Vanessa Green, FCR Manager on 01707 354451.
