****The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit (MCU) is part of the Joint Protective Services Directorate with responsibility for the investigation of major crime across the tri-force area. The MCU is based in two hubs: in the south at Hertfordshire Police Headquarters, Welwyn Garden City and in the north at Cambridgeshire Police Headquarters, Hinchingbrooke, Huntingdon. In addition to investigating homicide, the MCU has responsibility for a variety of investigations including attempted murder, stranger rape, crimes in action and child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Our current vacancy is for an Administrative Support to HOLMES based at Hertfordshire HQ. The main purpose of the role is to provide administrative/secretarial services to the Major Crime Unit, with the majority of the role focusing on the typing of all major crime documentation.

Key responsibilities will include
• Typing full verbatim transcripts of audio tapes, DVDs, 999 calls and body/head-cam footage to the standards required by the Crown Prosecution Service
• Typing all major crime documents utilising HOLMES software, ensuring high standards of accuracy and attention to detail
• Scanning and manipulating documentation to ensure it is in a format recognised by HOLMES
• Researching the internet and other databases to ensure correct details are entered into HOLMES
• Filing documentation

The successful candidate will hold an RSA II Word Processing qualification or equivalent. They will have excellent typing skills as this role involves a very high amount of audio typing, good interpersonal skills, be able to work with minimal supervision, be able to prioritise work effectively and have a good standard of written and verbal communication.

This is a permanent full time post based at Hertfordshire HQ, Welwyn Garden City however the post holder may be required on occasion to travel to locations within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. This is a Bedfordshire post and the successful candidate will be required to resign from their home force if they are not currently a Bedfordshire employee.
