At the Hertfordshire Constabulary, we depend on well maintained and efficient transportation to help us deliver our services to a large and diverse community. That means we need skilled professionals ready to dedicate their time to ensuring that our fleet of over 660 vehicles is always ready for action.

Maintaining, servicing and repairing mechanical, electrical and electronic components of police vehicles and plant to agreed standards, you will also carry out safety inspections, diagnostic testing and problem solving. You will also attend vehicle breakdowns and complete documentation work including job sheets, service sheets, time sheets and stores requisitions.

With previous experience in a motor vehicle workshop environment, you will have a good standard of education, a motor vehicle related apprenticeship and a City & Guilds Motor Vehicle (Mechanical/Electrical) Technicians 1 & 2 or equivalent. Preferably, you will bring an up-to-date knowledge of health & safety within vehicle workshops, experience in a main dealership/similar type of organisation and experience in various vehicle model types. With your focus on quality, good organisational and communication skills, both oral and written, you must be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative. A full current driving licence is essential.

You will be expected to support a shift working pattern. The Fleet Department covers two shifts ranging from 6am - 9.30pm, Monday - Thursday and 6am - 8.30pm, Friday.
