***Working within Joint Protective Services (Scientific Services Unit), an opportunity has arisen for a Forensic Operational Support Officer.

You will support the Forensic Alliance in achieving its objectives by working in a team of technical administration staff, supporting investigations and compiling evidential material for submissions in Court.

In this role you will be supporting Bedfordshire Police and Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies. You will contribute to achieving the Force vision, purpose and values.

In this role you will report to the FOST Supervisor and be part of a team of seven, whose role is to collect, compile and produce Forensic Intelligence Packages (FIPs), from numerous sources, including; Scenes of Crime Officers, Forensic Providers and Government agencies. Process Custody samples and reports provided by external Forensic Providers.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have some experience and understanding of forensic science and the investigative and Criminal Justice processes; keeping up to date with changes to the law, case law, codes of practice and statutory guidance. You will be required to use various software packages in the compilation of FIPs and should have the ability to maintain accurate records and statistics within electronic databases.

There is no requirement for shift or weekend work attached to this role.

You will be based at Kempston Police HQ, Bedfordshire.
