An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the recently collaborated BCH Digital Justice Team as a Virtual Court Detention Officer.

This role involves working as part of a team to ensure the efficient operation of Virtual Courts across Beds, Cambs and Herts (BCH). This work is vital to effectively bring offenders to justice.
This resilience role is to provide Virtual Court cover across the tri-force area as required and therefore needs to adopt the principles of agile working. You will be required to cover high demand, sickness and annual leave and therefore could be tasked to work at any of the six custody sites across BCH as required. The post holder's base will be determined according to the successful applicant's home force.
You will facilitate and coordinate the hearing of Remand and Short Bail cases via video link at six sites across BCH, linking with HMCTS locations across England and Wales. Working as part of a team, you will ensure Virtual Court hearings take place efficiently and video links are made effectively by liaising with HMCTS, defence representatives and other internal/external partners as necessary, to ensure the most efficient use of court and police resources is achieved.

Virtual Court Detention Officers will be managed by the Virtual Court Supervisor, and the Digital Justice Manager.

The working hours of the Virtual Court team need to reflect those of the courts, at the moment this does not require a shift pattern, however, it is likely to do so in the future.

For further information or an informal discussion please contact Andrew Thingsaker (Digital Justice Manager) on 07710 143663.

For the purposes of the application you will be expected to provide evidence against the three personal qualities below and the entry requirements:
