The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit has responsibility for targeting serious and organised crime across the region and the delivery of specialist covert services to Forces when required.

The Regional Fraud Investigation Unit serves Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, by investigating tier 2 fraud and other financial investigations as well as supporting operational teams across ERSOU.

Fraud is a threat to the national economy.

Those who commit fraud are preying on the vulnerable or on situations where they know victims won’t report the crime.

They are exploiting technology to the maximum to prevent detection.

They are living an affluent lifestyle in the belief they won’t be caught.

It is a crime that crosses international boundaries like few others.

If you would like to belong to a team facing the challenges of fraud on a daily basis and using multiple police tactics in order to prevent crime and bring the offenders to justice, then the Regional Fraud Investigation Unit is for you. The role brings opportunities to learn new skills and qualities and requires you to utilise all the skills of an investigator.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting and Security Clearance or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

The successful applicant may need to travel across the region when required.

You will be expected to provide written evidence around the following competencies and the minimum entry requirements from the role profile

Please note there is a 500 words limit for each competency.

Progression through the linked grade SO1 / SO2 will not be automatic. In order to qualify for the SO2 grade the post holder will need to be PIP 2 qualified, with powers allocated and 2 years’ experience in complex investigations
