East Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is part of a national network of regionally based units that coordinate and support counter terrorism investigations across police force borders. East CTP directly coordinates CT policing across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk whilst also assisting in the assessment and management of threats, risks and vulnerabilities across the UK.

The unit currently has an exciting opportunity for an Intelligence Analyst. Working within the Research and Analysis team, you will be responsible for collating and analysing information from a wide variety of sources, producing high quality products in support of regional and national policing requirements. You will take ownership of developing strategic intelligence projects in order to assess threats, risks and vulnerabilities in respect of current issues and emerging trends. Your work will directly support intelligence operations and projects in accordance with the CONTEST Strategy and regional and national requirements. It is essential that the successful candidate has a positive, flexible, approach to working, has the ability to manage multiple tasks and can maintain discretion within a confidential environment.

The post is based in central Hertfordshire but on occasion the post holder may also be required to travel outside of the region to attend meetings and training. As such possession of a valid UK driving licence would be an advantage. These additional working and travel requirements may be negotiable and will be reimbursed in line with Force Policy. The successful candidate will be employed by Bedfordshire Police. Due to the sensitivities of the role all applicants are asked to maintain discretion about their application.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting and Security Clearance or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. If you hold dual nationality, one component of which is British, you may also be considered. However, if successful, you may be asked to relinquish your non‐British nationality (and any entitlement you may have to a foreign nationality) as a condition of your confirmation of appointment with ECTIU. One of your parents should also be British or have substantial ties to the UK. In the latter instance; substantial ties means that your parent is a citizen of a British Overseas Territory, a Commonwealth citizen, US citizen, EEA citizen, British national or citizen overseas, and they would need to have demonstrable connections with the UK by way of family history or have been resident here for a substantial period of time.

If you’re already married to, or cohabiting with, a person who isn’t a British citizen, you may still be eligible for employment at the discretion of the department. You should note however, that marriage to, or cohabitation with, a person who isn’t a British citizen after appointment may, in some circumstances, result in the withdrawal of security clearance and subsequent transfer to another department, or (if this is not possible or the officer does not wish to transfer) dismissal. Each case will be considered on its merits, taking into account the ties between the person involved and the United Kingdom.

You will be expected to provide written evidence around the following competencies and the minimum entry requirements from the role profile:
- We are emotionally aware
- We take ownership
- We deliver, support and inspire
- We analyse critically

Please note – for this role you are required to write no more than 250 words rather than the 500 stated on the application template”.
