***The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Operational Planning and Support Unit (OPSU) is part of the Joint Protective Services Directorate with responsibilities ranging from public order and safety to search and CBRN across the tri-force area. The Unit operate from Alconbury, Huntingdon and are the single point of contact for all Mutual Aid requests and also co-ordinate the response for Public Military Events and VIP visits to the tri-force alliance.

Our current vacancy is for a Business Support Assistant in the Operational Planning and Support Unit based at Alconbury. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential strategic and administrative support to the Unit. Specifically, this role incorporates;
• Administrative preparation for courses; attendance lists, joining instructions, printing and collating course material, ordering refreshments.
• Maintain the ‘Mercury’ database, keeping up-to-date information on specialist trained and accredited staff.
• Managing the site diary and room bookings.
• Managing access to building by officers/staff attending training and contractors.
• Liaise with other departments and resource management units to fulfil requests for mutual aid.
• Freedom of Information requests.

In addition to the above, the post holder will be responsible for the day to day administration required to deliver effective and efficient service across the OPSU.

The post holder will need to become competent as a user of bespoke computer programmes/software and will therefore be expected to undertake necessary training in accordance with the role. They will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work with minimal supervision, be able to prioritise work effectively and have a good standard of written and verbal communication. The post holder will also be required to develop a good understanding of relevant legislation, and have excellent working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

This is a permanent full time post based at Alconbury, however the post holder may on some occasions be required to work in various locations across the tri-force. Please note this is a 1 year fixed term contract.
