ERSOU-Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP)

Current & Projective Vancacies 

Applications are invited from fully trained level 1 surveillance constables to join our Counter Terrorism Surveillance Team based in Hertfordshire. This exciting & challenging secondment is at the forefront of national counter terrorism policing.

As shown by the last years terrorist attacks in London and Manchester the most significant risk to national security & the people of the United Kingdom is the threat from International Terrorism. ERSOU Counter Terrorism Policing is an integral part of the UK’s National Counter Terrorism Network; it fights terrorism at every level and at every opportunity with surveillance playing a significant and vital part in this endeavour. 

The role will involve the use of a wide range of covert tactics, including mobile surveillance, to investigate, gather intelligence & disrupt terrorist activities. The successful applicant will have an energetic, flexible and innovative approach to working within this proactive environment, with the willingness to work unsocial hours at short notice on live operations.

A vital part of our mission is the collection of high quality evidence & intelligence for the police and our partner agencies in order to bring terrorists to justice, a key process in maintaining the safety and security of our country.

ERSOU CTP is responsible for the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, however, the surveillance team deploys throughout the UK where required. Successful applicants will be seconded to ERSOU CTP (Bedfordshire Police) from their home force or they may transfer to Bedfordshire Police. 

This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Security Clearance and Management Vetting before taking up the post. 

Applicants are requested to provide a detailed description (in the region of 500 words) of your surveillance career.

All applicants must print off a copy of the CT application approval form and pass this onto their line manager and head of department for sign off. As this is a PDF document this will need to be wet signed. Though we will accept an audit trail of emails from your line manager and Head of Department if this is not achieveable.

The completed approval form needs to be returned to the hr.ersou@ersou.pnn.police.uk as close to the closing date as possible.  Application forms will not be progressed to the shortlisting stage until the Recruitment Team has received a completed approval form.
