CTC sits within Joint Protective Services who endeavour to reflect the diverse communities we serve and to build an inclusive workforce where everyone is valued and respected. We encourage applications from underrepresented or minority groups.

The CTC requires an Assistant Investigator to work from our base in Monkswood, Cambridgeshire. You may also be requested to work in the South hub from time to time currently based in Hitchin Police Station.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible as you will be required to work across the 3 counties. The Assistant Investigator for CTC (Camera, Tickets and Collisions Department) will specifically be responsible for supporting the CTC department by providing a dedicated investigative resource. The workload will generally arise from safety camera and collision enquiries. The post holder will be responsible for investigating offences including researching evidence and intelligence gathering. They will be required to utilise designated powers to search, investigate and pursue enquiries, prepare and upgrade case files and also process prisoners.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to input and interrogate computer databases. This is a customer facing role, so the capability to conduct directed investigations with the public and suspects including the competency to take statements and interview suspects is essential. Applicants must be able to identify investigative opportunities and follow investigative processes with an understanding of the Road Traffic Act and the Criminal Justice System.

The successful post holder must be prepared to become an accredited investigator and will be expected to provide a service to Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. The post holder must have a full driving licence with business insurance and gain home force authority to drive police vehicles as the role will require the staff member to conduct enquiries away from their place of work (reporting station).
