Following investment to support additional capacity around tackling Serious Violence in the County, new opportunities have arisen in the Bedfordshire Police Intelligence Analysis Team for Intelligence Researchers.

Key to supporting the Force achieve its strategic objectives, the roles will provide research support for the wider Intelligence Analysis Team by building a picture on any given issue, collating information regarding specific areas of criminality, including the activities of known/suspected criminals and developing reports, spread sheets, charts, maps and summarising key findings.

Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to work with minimal supervision using your own initiative, and be able to work to tight deadlines. Team working and an ability to foster good working relationships is essential. In addition to having a high level of integrity and discretion, you will also be expected to provide equality of service to all.

Candidates will need to have a minimum of 12 months previous experience in a research environment. You will have proven experience of assimilating and understanding relevant information including the identification of potential risks, linking information and identifying patterns, trends, series, similarities and discrepancies with information. Applicants should have excellent computer skills in MS Office Software particularly Excel (such as vlookups, pivots and filters) and the ability to learn and apply skills in relation to bespoke software. Knowledge of i2 products including I Base, Visual Basic and Mapping software is an advantage but not essential.

The posts are 37 hours per week Monday to Friday based at Bedford Borough Hall and subject to the standard Bedfordshire Police flexible working arrangements but there may be a requirement to work from other locations, and dependent on operational needs, there may be occasional 07:30hrs start times. There are currently two immediate temporary opportunities for roles until end March 2020 (Temporary Contract or Secondment/Career Development) with the possibility of extension.

Candidates should be aware that the research work may include topics such as Child Sexual Exploitation, Modern Day Slavery and Serious Youth Violence etc.
