Hertfordshire’s File Quality Unit quality assures and enhances files from operational units around the county in order to ensure the file meets the correct standard to comply with the CPS and the National File Standard.

We are looking for additional A3 File Quality assurance staff at Hatfield Police Station.

The department works closely with the AoJ and CPS and plays a key part in meeting the standards set nationally by the CPS. We ensure that files deliver the necessary information at the correct time to allow prosecutors the ability to make decisions on charges to be laid and defendants to enter a guilty plea at the earliest available opportunity.

The FQU directly supports the Case Investigation Teams, Intervention, Safer Neighbourhoods, Roads Policing Unit, LCU and DAISU across Hertfordshire. We are responsible for providing guidance and support to all frontline and investigative teams throughout the Constabulary with regards to case files.

The post holder will be working in a team of A3 File Quality assurance staff based at Hatfield. This is a non-operational non-customer facing role and does not require prisoner handling. Please see Job Context sheet.

The successful candidate will need to have an excellent understanding of the Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act, Disclosure provisions, National File Standards and the principles of Transforming Summary Justice. Knowledge of the CASE element of Athena is desirable. The applicant should demonstrate an ability to work effectively with internal and external partners; in pursuit of raising standards and providing a consistently high level of service to the wider public.
