The Professional Standards Department is a collaborated Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Unit which is committed to improving public confidence and quality of service together with protecting and enhancing the integrity of all three forces by preventing and detecting unethical behaviour, conducting timely and robust public complaint investigations, identifying lessons learned through investigation, educating, promoting and supporting good practice.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual, who is able to work in a challenging and demanding environment.

You will be line managed by the Anti-Corruption Unit but completing work to support all areas of Professional Standards Department by delivering the Corruption Prevention Strategy across the Strategic Alliance, which will focus on priority corruption threats and behaviour identified by the National Anti-Corruption Threat Assessment and support PSD in educating the forces around Regulations for Conduct and Complaints.

This will be broadly achieved through education, delivering presentations and communicating key messages using a wide range of media methods available across the three forces.

You will work alongside the current Corruption Prevention Officer to achieve this as well as have responsibility to develop and deliver training around PSD Conduct and Complaints procedures.

The successful candidate will be confident in public speaking and dealing with potentially challenging situations when carrying out debriefs of teams to identify lessons learned. They will be motivated to work alone and with others managing own time effectively with an organised approach to the work undertaken.

This is a new role for the department so there will be scope to develop the role and therefore an innovative mind set and can do attitude is required.

Full training on our systems will be provided.

The Professional Standards department is based at Biggleswade Police Station. The post is a permanent post and the hours are 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.
