Applications are invited for an A2 Business Support Assistant vacancy in the Community Support Unit in Hertfordshire.

The successful applicant will be working within the busy Welwyn/Hatfield and Hertsmere Community Safety Unit (CSU). The CSU is key in reducing and tackling anti-social behaviour within Hertfordshire.

This is an interesting role focusing on community safety in a number of ways. Licensing of premises is a key part of ensuring safe communities and is a specialist area of policing; you will be contributing to the reduction of violence in night time economy. Tackling ASB is a force priority and can be a very challenging area of policing. ASB legislation has changed significantly over the years and you will be expected to be able to have a good understanding of how it is implemented. The CSU is instrumental in using this legislation in problem solving. It is extremely rewarding to see the improvement in the quality of life for the victims and the community as a whole when used correctly.

CSU Business Support Assistants are supervised by the CSU Manager, but require the ability to work on their own initiative whilst recognising incidents of Anti-social behaviour that require escalation to a supervisor.

If you are a self-motivated, experienced administrator who is interested in being part of a specialist administration team working to prevent and reduce Anti-social behaviour, this is an opportunity to develop your knowledge and experience of anti-social behaviour with potential for future career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Dealing with a range of enquires, some complex, either in written form, personal contact or telephone
• Compile data and provide management information
• Provide a broad range of administrative support
• Supporting the ASB and Licensing officers
• Working with the community partners and other agencies
• Representing the Force at partnership meetings such as ASB forums and Pub Watch
• Contributing to the reduction of crime and disorder
• Contributing to increased public reassurance
• Provide necessary care and support for victims and witnesses
• Maintaining accurate detailed records on Safety Net/Innkeeper/Athena.

Your time will be split working between Hatfield and Borehamwood police stations and you will occasionally be required to attend some partnership meetings at different locations within these areas.

You will be required to use your own vehicle and to organise business insurance.
