Research and Development Officer (Police Staff) – On-Line Investigation Team
Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU)
Salary Grade: SO1 (£29,307 – £31,053)
Applications are invited to civilian staff to work in a new and exciting unit as a part of a national pilot. This unit will use innovative tactics to protect and safeguard children from abuse.
The role of the Research and Development Officer will be to work within the unit, conducting enquiries to identify threat and risk posed to children. It will include researching the internet for opportunities and building intelligence and evidence of the highest quality for this purpose. All this will be within a small flexible and dedicated team, committed to the protection of children from sexual abuse.
Bedfordshire is the lead force for ERSOU so the successful candidate will be employed by Bedfordshire Police Force.
The role will be based initially in Maidstone and then either the North Kent or South Essex area -though may be required to work anywhere in the Eastern Region.
Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting and Security Clearance or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.
