How does the work this team does make a difference. Maintaining, fixing, and updating critical Force systems gives us a clear view of the impact our work has on local policing.

The purpose of this role;

  • To maintain and technically administer the organisation’s applications; ensuring these systems are efficient, effective, and meet the needs of the organisation.
  • To provide second-line support, administering application systems, and assisting with the design and future planning for those systems. 

The Applications Support Team which currently comprises of 11 members of staff is part of the BCH Tri-force ICT department and provides support & guidance to 11000+ users. We administer all M365 / Cloud Applications as well as all on-premises Applications. We further perform Installs / Upgrades and support of application processes running on the Server infrastructure. This also involves NoSQL databases and associated clustering technologies.

Your duties will include dealing with queries and problems reported on applications, as well as working with colleagues and customers to ensure that any enhancements improve the overall effectiveness of the applications.

You will be the primary liaison between the force end users and cloud / on-premises provisioned systems. You will also be expected to attend application project meetings and help define the support characteristics of any new applications.

You should have two or more of the skills below:

  • Directory Services (Preferred Azure Active Directory)
  • Email administration (Preferred Azure Microsoft Exchange)
  • File Access and Permissions (Microsoft File Management and OneDrive)
  • SharePoint administration experience (Preferred M365)
  • Experience with PowerShell
  • Server administration experience
  • Customer Liaison experience
  • Working within an ICT environment
