Hertfordshire Constabulary are looking for an individual to lead on an innovative mental health and policing programme and continue with the work that has already started to be implemented. Could you be the person to help Hertfordshire Constabulary achieve a reduction in S136 by employing integrated interventions to high intensity users?

Working across both Hertfordshire Constabulary and the MH Trust, the successful candidate will be responsible for introducing and enforcing boundaries with the aim of preventing the escalation and repetition of the person’s behaviour.

You will need to be resilient, determined and committed and have a keen interest in mental health and the impact this has on policing and other public sector organisations.

Previous experience of working in the partnership landscape and knowledge of applying problem solving policing methods are essential. You also need working knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and Athena. You will be self-motivated and confident to manage your own workload.

A thorough understanding of the interface between mental illness, personality disorders and offending behaviour is beneficial but full training will be provided. The key factor to be successful in this post is the drive to put an end to the cycle many high intensity users find themselves in – passing from medical and mental health professionals to the police and back again.

This is a full-time, temporary post for an A4 for a 12 months period currently. The project will be reviewed at the end of the financial year 2022 . The post-holder will work Monday to Friday 0800-1600 (with a willingness to work flexibly when required). The post will be based at Headquarters WGC with travel around the county required (transport provided).
