Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies (BCH) are looking to recruit experienced Senior HR Consultants on fixed term contracts to join their collaborated HR team.

This is an exciting time to join BCH with the HR function embarking upon a period of transformation to better reflect the business needs of the policing service it supports. Our multi-disciplined HR team delivers to a collaboration of local forces and departments with wide ranging priorities and we are implementing an ambitious new operating model that will provide strategic oversight and support local working.

Whilst our HR Query Team provides a one stop shop for immediate queries, more complex cases are routed to the Consultancy Team who will provide HR customers with access to expert advice and guidance on a wide variety of employment matters including complex pay matters, contract variations, attendance, conduct, performance, grievances and restructuring. The teams are aligned to the business and based locally to establish effective working relationships with managers.
Reporting to the HR Consultancy Manager, the Senior HR Consultant will line manage a team of HR Consultants aligned to a particular business area and be accountable for the performance and delivery of localised HR support. This will include continuous development of the team to ensure consistent and up to date advice, maximisation of digital solutions to increase efficiency and identification of areas where improvements can be made to better support our customers. The Senior HR Consultant will also work closely with dedicated People Business Partners and senior leaders to ensure delivery of specific force priorities and requirements.

You will be a Level 7 Associate/Chartered member of the CIPD or have equivalent experience. With an expert knowledge of employment law, you will also have a proven track record of supporting a team of HR professionals on complex case work in a multi-functional HR environment. You will need to have in depth knowledge of and experience in a wide variety of employment matters in order to provide detailed and accurate advice and guidance. Customer focussed, you will always see the bigger picture, be innovative in your thinking and collaborative in your approach. With a genuine interest in people performance, you will be a real problem solver and effective communicator.
Opportunities are available in each of the following locations:

• Huntingdon
• Kempston (Bedford)
• Welwyn Garden City

Please note that whilst you will be expected to work to a dedicated police force or business area, travel across the three sites of Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire will be required.
