The Police Applications Support Team which currently comprises of nine members of staff is part of the Tri-force ICT department which provides support and guidance to users of over 60 Organisational Applications. Which are used by the 9000+ Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire employees our aim is to support both operational and business needs effectively.

Your duties will include dealing with queries and problems reported on applications, as well as working with colleagues and customers to ensure that any enhancements improve the overall effectiveness of the applications.

You will be the primary liaison between the force end users and the application suppliers, be expected to attend application project meetings and help define the support characteristics of any new application. You will become an application expert, knowing how to support all force applications to a general level, but also a subject matter expert in a subset of applications. You will also manage the relationships between the suppliers/end users and internal ICT groups, so that applications can be upgraded and supported with minimal disruption to end user groups.

As well as the above we will encourage you to constantly improve your skills so that your able to take on the support/install and upgrade functions of application software that resides and runs on the server infrastructure such as IIS and to understand API fault diagnosis.

It would be useful to have one or more of the skills below.

To join us, you'll need excellent communication and analytical skills and the ability to remain calm in difficult situations. A good team player, you should be IT literate and comfortable using Microsoft Systems and technologies. Knowledge of Force applications is not essential but preferred, as training will be provided as and when required.

Being a Tri-force ICT department, our primary working locations are Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire / Kempston, Bedfordshire and Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire we are flexible with allowing people to work from any of these locations. We also offer a Work Life Balance scheme depending on contract. Our Standard working week is 37 hours between Monday and Friday.
