The successful candidate will develop, lead and implement appropriate strategies and processes, including responsibility for a quality management system, to enable the Constabulary to achieve and maintain UKAS accreditation to ISO 17025 for digital forensics. Operate as the force expert in all matters relating to digital forensics with regard to ISO Accreditation.

The post sits within the Digital Forensic Investigation Unit (DFIU) which is the Force's dedicated team responsible for the identification, forensic extraction and interpretation of intelligence and evidence from computers, mobiles, tablets and other digital devices in accordance with NPCC guidelines.

Key Responsibilities include;

- Interpreting ISO 17025 applied to the field of digital forensics and direct and ensure technical management. Produce robust exhibit handling processes and systems ensuring compliance to continuity, traceability, secure storage and protection requirements are in place.

- Identifying all digital equipment across the force that falls within the calibration requirements, verify accreditation suitability of supplier and ensure measurement traceability to known national or international standards. Alternatively, develop proficient in-house calibration methods that are sufficient for validated methods and will meet specific clause requirements of ISO 17025.

- Establishing a programme of regular auditing to check competence and drive on-going standards improvement. Ensure the collation of validation data and production of validation reports that will determine intended accredited processes and competencies.

- Identifying relevant quality-related training needs and ensure delivery of training.

- Agree SLAs with other units within the Constabulary in relation to submissions and examinations to the HTCU and monitor and confirm adherence to those SLAs.

- Representing the force at external local, regional and national meetings in order to develop useful networks, understand best-practice and apply to support accreditation.

- Building a network with senior managers across the force and across law enforcement agencies to provide expert advice and guidance on digital forensic accreditation, including giving a rationale where changes to processes are necessary.

- Providing resilience and support for the Technical Manager within the Digital Forensic Investigation Unit.

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years current Quality Management experience, ideally in the public sector, with lead auditor qualifications at a minimum of ISO 9001 & 17025 with extensive experience of auditing in both a general and technical capacity.
