***An opportunity has arisen for an A4 investigator to work within the Public Protection Unit. The unit is responsible for the management of all registered sex offenders living in Hertfordshire.

The team consists of police officer and police staff on each team with responsibility for approximately 50 offenders each. Registered Sex Offender profiles are diverse in nature, and include those convicted of rape, child sex offences, indecent images, sexual assaults on adults, voyeurism and sexual exposures.

Individual officers are responsible for robust risk management, proactive intelligence gathering and investigations into breaches of Sex Offender related legislation. Where further offending is identified the officer is expected to initiate and lead on complex investigations, acting as officer in the case. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate good decision making, management of a high workload, and competency in complex investigations. Good IT technical understanding is also desirable.

The Public Protection Unit work extensively with partner agencies such as MAPPA, Probation, Mental Health, Housing and Social Services. Experience of partnership working and good communication skills, will be intrinsic to this role.

The successful applicant will undertake specialist training, including a MOSOVO (management of sexual offences and violent offences’) course, Active Risk Management System and VISOR.
