Joint Protective Services (JPS) are seeking to recruit Traffic Management Officer Staff to fill forthcoming vacancies within the department, working from either Stevenage or Halsey Road police stations. This is for 2 full time posts.

The successful candidate will be part of a team that ensures effective coordination and liaison in relation to traffic management issues, providing a focus for continuity and consistency in the development and application of traffic management policy, particularly in relation to road development schemes and major road closures, acting as a principal consultee.

On a day to day basis, you will work for the Road Safety Operations Manager providing responses to consultation requests (formal and informal) on road schemes; work with partners to assist managing a wide variety of complaints that relate to the road network; work as a subject matter expert regarding traffic management audits at differing stages including post fatal collision audits and will play a central role in advising on road safety at major events and during major road projects providing the police view to relevant stakeholders on behalf of the relevant Chief Constable. You will be involved identifying collision hot spots, deploying sophisticated analytical data collection devices at the roadside; identifying their causes and providing recommendations on delivering sustainable solutions to relevant key stakeholders. A prior sound knowledge of road safety issues would be an asset coming into this role. To enable the successful candidate to become proficient, appropriate training and accreditation will need to be completed if it is not already held.
