An exciting opportunity has become available to be trained as a Police Staff Driving Instructor delivering a range of police driver training to officers and staff across the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire collaborated Police Forces. Once qualified you will initially train Emergency Response Car Courses before progressing onto delivering Advanced Car and Pursuit courses.

The BCH driving school is responsible for training officers and police staff on a range of driving courses in accordance with national driving standards issued by the College of Policing. Police Driving Instructors also conduct regular driving assessments to ensure police drivers are competent to continue to drive police vehicles to a high standard. The driving school sits within Learning and Development as a collaborated unit and has three bases across BCH.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual, who is responsive to change and has excellent communication skills to ensure they get the best out of students. You will be responsible for delivering both practical driver training and relevant theoretical classroom presentations.

Although the successful candidate will be primarily located at Monks Wood you will be required to work across all three forces as and when required to deliver driver training as required. Instructors will work Monday to Friday however will need to be prepared to work a late turn on occasion to enable students to experience driving in varying light conditions.

You will be part of a team of police officers and police staff delivering driver training across the three forces.

The successful candidates must pass the BCH Police Driving Instructors Course within six months’ of starting to enable them continued employment in the role. We will provide as much support as possible to achieve this.
