Higher Intelligence Analyst
ERSOU Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP)
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The East Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) Unit is part of a national network of regionally based units that co-ordinate and support Counter Terrorism (CT) investigations across police force borders. East CTP directly co-ordinates CT policing across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk whilst also assisting in the assessment and management of threats, risks and vulnerabilities across the UK.

The unit currently has an opportunity for a Higher Intelligence Analyst. Working alongside the Senior Analyst you will be responsible for directing a team of analysts and researchers to ensure work effectively supports the regional priorities and Business Plan. This post will have first line management responsibility for a busy team, therefore previous management experience is desirable.

The role can be diverse and challenging. It is essential that the successful candidate is highly motivated, organised and has a positive, flexible, approach to working whilst maintaining discretion within a confidential environment.

Due to the nature of operational policing there could be a need for staff to work additional hours from time to time. On occasion the post holder will also be required to travel outside of the region to attend meetings and training. As such possession of a valid UK driving licence would be an advantage. These additional working and travel requirements may be negotiable and will be reimbursed in line with Force Policy. The successful candidate will be employed by Bedfordshire Police force.

Due to the sensitivities of the role all applicants are asked to maintain discretion about their application. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Enhanced Security Clearance vetting prior to taking up the post, leading to Developed Vetting once in post. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined. A current security clearance is highly desirable.

This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. If you hold dual nationality, one component of which is British, you may also be considered. However, if successful, you may be asked to relinquish your non‐British nationality (and any entitlement you may have to a foreign nationality) as a condition of your confirmation of appointment with ECTIU. One of your parents should also be British or have substantial ties to the UK. In the latter instance; substantial ties means that your parent is a citizen of a British Overseas Territory, a Commonwealth citizen, US citizen, EEA citizen, British national or citizen overseas, and they would need to have demonstrable connections with the UK by way of family history or have been resident here for a substantial period of time.

Candidates are required to clearly signpost how they meet the following criteria in no more than 500 words per competency:

We are emotionally aware
We take ownership
We deliver, support and inspire
We analyse critically
