Applications are invited from substantive Detective Superintendents for a rare and exciting opportunity to lead the eastern region’s counter terrorism command, Eastern Region Special Operations Unit – Counter Terrorism Policing (ERSOU – CTP). You will be part of the ERSOU SMT and will report to the Detective Chief Superintendent ERSOU CTP & ROCU.

In this role you will lead, coordinate and facilitate all aspects of counter terrorism capability and capacity within the eastern region as part of the national counter terrorism infrastructure.

You will provide visible leadership and create the environment that enables all our staff to work together to keep people safe. You will lead the coordination and management of operational, partnership and intelligence aspects of tackling terrorism and domestic extremism, and develop the Prevent, Prepare, Protect and Pursue strands of the government’s CONTEST strategy.

You may be required to travel for business purposes on occasion and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours, and you must be prepared to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV).

Within ERSOU CTP you will bring your expertise and knowledge of policing and build on any previous exposure to counter terrorism work. Your understanding of serious crime investigations, intelligence, operations and safeguarding will equip you to lead and develop the recently regionalised counter terrorism capability in this region and give you opportunities to work with colleagues and partners regionally, nationally and internationally.

A briefing and familiarisation session will be arranged to assist colleagues on understanding this unique area of work.
