Applications are invited for a Business Support Assistant to join Joint Protective Services (JPS) in delivering essential strategic and administrative support to the Armed Policing Unit (APU) and Roads Policing Unit (RPU). The post holder will work as part of a team within the JPS Business Area, reporting to the Business Manager.

This is 12 months maternity cover for an individual looking to develop their career and work within a fast paced and evolving area of business. The successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel across the tri-force but the permanent base location will be Bedfordshire Police Headquarters, Kempston which is where the Business Area and Firearms Training Team are based.

The post holder will be required to undertake a range of responsibilities, including (but not limited to);

• Maintain accurate and systematic records, including the ‘Chronicle’ database of armed deployments and practitioner CPD.
• Research and compile management information as required.
• Provide administrative support to APU and RPU.
• Support the organisation in the planning of internal development/training days, liaising with participants, producing and dispatching information and greeting visitors.
• Effectively manage all telephone, written and electronic communications.
• Provide confidential administrative support to the JPS Command Team.

As such the successful candidate will have the desired qualities;

• Experience in the use of IT and a good working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
• Experience of operating a range of office equipment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritise effectively
• Knowledge of the ‘Chronicle’ database (not essential but desired)
