A great opportunity has arisen to join a growing support team as a Network Engineer within the BCH (Beds, Cambs & Herts) ICT Department. Join the exciting and dynamic world of policing and contribute towards making Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire and a safer place.

Based at Cambridgeshire Police HQ, Huntingdon, this full-time, permanent position offers flexibility in working locations in the form of a hybrid working model, subject to a successful initial probationary period.

This is an exciting role with exposure to a wide range of project and development activities, delivering business change as well as day to day reactive incident and service request resolution, whilst ensuring all tasks are prioritised in line with departmental requirements.

You'll demonstrate your experience in networking technology to configure, maintain and support data centre environments (DC), local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks (Wi-Fi) as well as network load balancer technologies and multi-vendor security appliances. You’ll also support the department’s strategic move towards adopting and maintaining a variety of cloud platforms and services.

Through daily monitoring and management of the BCH Network Infrastructure you'll ensure high levels of service availability and performance. You’ll proactively prevent and reactively resolve any faults or failures identified through automated or manual monitoring and ensure any procedures or corrective actions are documented.

You must be an effective team player, organised and highly motivated, understanding the importance of flexibility, effective communication, and collaboration in order to work efficiently with colleagues located in different office locations across the BCH estate as well as working remotely.

We support our team in maintaining an in-depth level of up-to-date IT industry and technical awareness specifically in the data networking field.
