CTP Senior Intelligence Analyst

37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Eastern Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is part of a national network of regionally based units that coordinate and support counter terrorism investigations across police force borders and forms part of the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU). Eastern CTP directly coordinates CT policing across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, whilst also assisting in the assessment and management of threats, risks and vulnerabilities across the UK.

The unit currently has an exciting opportunity for a permanent Senior Intelligence Analyst to work within the Research and Analysis Team. Working alongside a second Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for line managing and directing a busy team of analysts and researchers to support regional and national counter terrorism priorities in accordance with the CONTEST Strategy. This includes supporting with team welfare and professional development, task management and planning, and quality assurance of products before dissemination. You will also be required to deputise for the Head of Analysis or the second Senior Intelligence Analyst in their absence. The role can be diverse and challenging so it is essential that the successful candidate is highly motivated, organised and has a positive and flexible approach to working, and can maintain discretion within a confidential environment.

The position is being offered as a full-time, office-based role located in central Hertfordshire. On occasion the post holder may also be required to travel within or outside of the region to attend meetings or training. As such possession of a valid UK driving licence would be an advantage. Due to the nature of operational policing, there is an occasional need for staff to work additional hours. These additional working and travel requirements may be negotiable and will be reimbursed in line with Force Policy. The successful candidate will be employed by Bedfordshire Police, the lead force for ERSOU. The starting salary will be at the lowest pay point for the grade of the role however, the applicant’s current role and relevant experience will be taken into consideration. Where possible we will also consider requests for flexible working, depending on the individual’s circumstances and business need.

There are various inclusivity networks available to join within ERSOU and Bedfordshire Police and your employment within the Police will make you eligible for a Blue Light Card, which offers discounts for hundreds of companies across the UK.

The application process:

As a part of the application process, you will be expected to provide written evidence of how you meet the minimum entry requirements from the role profile (maximum 500 words). You will also be expected to demonstrate how you meet select competency values, which can be found in the role profile attachment (maximum 500 words each). All applications must be submitted through our online recruitment website by clicking the ‘apply’ button below. We encourage applicants to save the role profile as it will not be available once the application deadline has ended.

Candidates are required to clearly explain how they meet the following criteria in no more than 500 words per competency:

  • We are emotionally aware
  • We deliver, support and inspire
  • We analyse critically
  • Entry requirements

Due to the sensitivities of the role all applicants are asked to maintain discretion about their application. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Enhanced Security Clearance vetting prior to taking up the post, leading to Developed Vetting once in post. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are unable to supply feedback should clearance be declined. A current security clearance is highly desirable.

ERSOU celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected. We actively encourage applications from underrepresented or minority groups. ERSOU is a Disability Confident employer. Should you require any reasonable adjustments for your application process, please contact the HR Service Centre on 01438 757777. We also recognise the guaranteed interview scheme; this means that all candidates with a disability covered by the Equality Act 2010, who meet the minimum entry requirements for the role, will be invited to attend an interview. Where possible we will also consider flexible working requests.

Eligibility criteria:

If you have applied for this position in Eastern CTP within the past 12 months your application will unfortunately not be considered.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria), Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) and Development Vetting before taking up the post. This will involve vetting checks on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial enquiries. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. Anyone holding dual nationality can make an application but may be required to relinquish non-British nationality if successful (and any entitlement you may have to a foreign nationality) as a condition of your confirmation of appointment with CTP. When applying please click Yes to the British Nationality Question in order to progress to the next step of the application process. One of your parents should also be British or have substantial ties to the UK. In the latter instance, substantial ties means that your parent is a citizen of a British Overseas Territory, a Commonwealth citizen, US citizen, EEA citizen, British national or citizen overseas, and they would need to have demonstrable connections with the UK by way of family history or have been resident here for a substantial period of time.

If you’re already married to, or cohabiting with, a person who isn’t a British citizen, you may still be eligible for employment at the discretion of the department. You should note however, that marriage to, or cohabitation with, a person who isn’t a British citizen after appointment may, in some circumstances, result in the withdrawal of security clearance and subsequent transfer to another department, or (if this is not possible or the officer does not wish to transfer) dismissal. Each case will be considered on its merits, taking into account the ties between the person involved and the United Kingdom.

This vacancy is live to those at risk of redundancy and will remain open to redeployees until the conditional offer stage throughout the recruitment process. Any redeployee that wishes to apply should apply through the Redeployment Portal and provide a statement no more than 500 words against the entry requirements only.
