Promotion to Inspector

The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Strategic Alliance are seeking applications from substantive Sergeants within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire on promotion to Inspector, as well as external applicants seeking promotion to Inspector and substantive Inspectors seeking lateral transfer.

This selection process is aligned with Step 3 of the National Police Promotions Framework (NPPF) and the purpose of this step is to assess candidates’ potential to perform at the rank of Inspector, against the relevant behavioural competencies and to provide a robust and fair mechanism to broadly match the number of successful candidates to the number of expected vacancies.

To be eligible to apply you will need to be a serving substantive Sergeant in a Home Office force or substantive Inspector for lateral transfer.

Candidates are invited to apply online, with applications being shortlisted based on the core competencies of the rank of Inspector as outlined in the Competency Value Framework (CVF) at level 2.

An information event will be held in each force on the following dates:

Bedfordshire Police Headquarters, Kempston:  

Thursday 10th January 2019 at 09:00 hours in Conference room 2

Cambridgeshire Police Headquarters, Huntingdon:       

Thursday 10th January 2019 at 15:00 hours in Conference room 1

Hertfordshire Police Headquarters, Welwyn Garden City:

Tuesday 8th January 2019 at 10:00 hours in Conference rooms 1 & 2

Additional Information Session:

There will ba an additional session on Thursday 17th January at 09:00 hours at Stevenage Police Station in the Conference Room.

The event will include an overview of each Force, what we are looking for in our leaders as well as how the process will run. If you would like to attend in person or via Skype please send confirmation to promotions@herts.pnn.police.uk and further details will be made available.

The final selection stage consists of a presentation and interview and will assesses both your technical and leadership competencies. The final selection process will take place in the week commencing 11th March 2019.

The closing date for registering for the promotions process and submitting an application is 27th January 2019 at 23.55 hours, after which you will not be able to access the system and application forms will not be processed by the Promotion Team.

To apply, you should first register your interest via the e-recruitment system then completion of the application form providing evidence against key competencies at level two of the Competency and Values Framework.
