Cambridgeshire Constabulary is offering the exciting opportunity for a permanent role in its Demand Hub. The Demand Hub is an initiative which sees police officers and staff working together, carrying out a variety of different functions, including emergency and non-emergency (999/101) call handling.

The Hub, based at police headquarters in Huntingdon, is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. There are full and part-time positions available. Applicants will work flexibly, including weekends and evenings, answering emergency and non-emergency calls. Additionally, you will be responsible for speaking to victims of crime and creating detailed and accurate reports directly into force systems.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent customer service, listening and questioning skills, along with the ability to quickly assimilate information, extracting salient points to establish the circumstances of the incident or crime, while maintaining and demonstrating empathy to those they speak to. Every call taken is different and prospective applicants should be aware that sometimes our callers can be quite distressed or describe distressing circumstances.

As one of the team, you’ll receive extensive training and on-the-job support to prepare you for the challenging variety of calls and roles ahead. No matter what type of call comes in, your compassion, patience and professionalism must not waiver and that means thinking on your feet while providing reassurance. You will obtain relevant information to enable the correct deployment of appropriate police responses, as well as acting as a telephone investigator to ensure the correct investigation of crime. In return we will offer you an attractive salary and a busy operational role where you can play a key part in protecting the public from harm.

Starting salary for full time staff members is £32,930 broken down as follows: £24,576 basic salary, £4915 shift allowance, £3439 weekend working allowance.

Successful shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an assessment day at Huntingdon Headquarters, date to be arranged.
