Police Officer - Internal
Intel and Specialist Crime Department
Cambridgeshire Constabulary
Forcewide
Digital Cyber Directorate
Permanent
Police Constable
Full Time

The digital world is fast growing and forever evolving. A digital element spans most crime types and plays a role in the majority of investigations. Cambridgeshire Constabulary have recently launched a new cyber directorate whose aim is to professionalise our response to digital forensics.

The role of a DMI is to provide forensic and strategic assistance; identifying digital investigative opportunities. The post holder will be involved in attending scenes and warrants, identifying forensic opportunities and how best to capture evidence. They will also provide digital strategies for investigators and SIOs.

Due to the nature of the role there is an expectation to provide support to evolving fast time investigations which may mean working some long hours and being flexible with regards to supporting pre planned operations/ warrants.

The role of a DMI is very technical with a lot of continuous training and therefore applicants need to have an interest and aptitude for digital forensics.

Due to the courses involved and the financial cost implication to the force there is a tenure of 3 years for this role.

There will be four police constable DMIs within the force and an additional three police staff DMIs. The split will be across north and south of the county so please do not let location prevent putting in an application. Line management is under the Digital Media Co-Ordinator DS James Firth and second line management is Detective Inspector Denise Harper.

Shift pattern will be a mixture of early/late weekdays as well as some weekends.

For applicants this is a 500 words expression of interest. Please show any technical knowledge within this.

For any questions on this application please contact DI Denise Harper on 07921094999.

This application is for both internal and external police constables. Internal applicants who are nearing the end of their probationary period may apply for this role. External candidates must have completed their probationary periods.

All applicants must print off a copy of the BCH application approval form and pass this onto their line manager and head of department for sign-off. As this is a PDF document this will need to be wet signed, though we will accept an audit trail of emails from your line manager and head of department if this is not achievable.

The completed approval form needs to be returned to the BCHCareers@herts.pnn.police.uk before the closing date. Application forms will not be progressed to the shortlisting stage unless the recruitment team has received a completed approval form. If, due to exceptional circumstances, you are unable to do so please inform the HR Service Centre at BCHCareers@herts.pnn.police.uk; this will need to be authorised by senior management.
