***The Joint Procurement Department unit are responsible for providing procurement advice and services to Bedfordshire Police, Hertfordshire Constabulary and Cambridgeshire Constabulary. It is job that covers all aspects of the Policing spectrum as well as support functions so members of the department develop knowledge in many business areas. The department ensure that the Public Contract Regulations 2015 and Tri-Force finance policies are upheld and advice provided to department on the correct method of procuring items

This post is open to all candidates who are interested in procurement and purchasing with a strong understanding of customer service.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual, who is interested in developing skills within the procurement environment with a potential interest in progressing through the procurement structure. An understanding of the Public Contract Regulations is beneficial but not essential and on the job training will be provided. A large proportion of the role will be administrative so the successful candidate will need to be organised and thorough with their record keeping and able to work without supervision.

You will be part of a team of 3 contracts assistants that provide support to the departments Contracts Officers and Contracts Managers.

The successful post holder will be part of a team made up of Contracts officers and Contracts Assistants from all 3 Forces that form the Beds, Cambs and Herts procurement unit. The department is made up of Police Staff with specialties in Procurement, Contract Law and negotiation.

The Procurement Department is based at Royston Police station but as it is provides services to all 3 Police Forces there may be a need to travel to any of the premises within the 3 counties so a driving license and access to a vehicle are highly desirable.
