From murders to burglary crime prevention campaigns, no two days are ever the same working in Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s Corporate Communications team. You will gain a fascinating insight into the varied and complex world of policing and play a vital role in protecting the vulnerable and attacking criminality.

This role would suit a communications specialist seeking a challenging and varied role which incorporates social media relations with the public, campaign planning, media liaison and internal communications.

The successful applicant will be working alongside the senior communications officer for the north of the county, covering Peterborough and Fenland, with a specific focus on local policing. They will deliver targeted communications and engagement activity to local communities which communicates and consults with the public on force priorities, finds communications solutions to support emerging local issues, highlights force visibility, communicates specifically on crime prevention work and supports the public to take steps to stay safe and reduce risk of crime.

Those interested in the role will require:
• At least 12 months communications experience
• Experience of working on digital communications for an organisation or campaign
• Excellent writing skills – able to write in concise, error-free English, with good attention to detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills – able to articulate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of people at all levels
• Demonstrated interest in digital media and communications
• Ability to work well in a team, but also able to work independently
• Administrative skills and a methodical approach to handling tasks and meeting deadlines
• Two A-levels or equivalent
• Experience of the following software is desirable: Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
• A full, clean, current driving licence is desirable
• Ability to work under pressure and outside normal working hours when required

The role is based at Police HQ in Huntingdon but you will be required to travel within the county, in particular across Peterborough and Fenland.
