Communications and Engagement Officer – Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire is looking for a Communications and Engagement Officer to join his team in Police Headquarters in Huntingdon.

Elected to represent the people of Cambridgeshire, the Commissioner’s overall aim is to make sure the public have an effective and efficient police service. He is responsible for setting police and crime objectives, the police budget and for holding the Chief Constable to account.

Working across the four strands of the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan; victims, offenders, communities and transformation, the purpose of the role is to support the Commissioner and his team by planning and delivering public and stakeholder engagement and communications activity.

This includes developing and designing digital and printed media content through existing and emerging digital channels. You will work in partnership with officers and staff within Cambridgeshire Constabulary, partner agencies and the public. You will also travel regularly throughout the county.

An average day could include:
• Responding to members of the public
• Organising public and/or stakeholder events
• Handling media enquiries

We are looking for an energetic and creative individual with good verbal and interpersonal skills. In particular you will need to demonstrate strong writing skills, working knowledge of effective social media and efficient administration skills.

This is a permanent, full time position based at police headquarters in Huntingdon.
