A vacancy has arisen for enquiry officers, based at Parkside Police Station, Cambridge.

The working hours cover 0800x2000hrs Monday to Sunday on a 5 week rota basis. Consideration will be given to applicants who would like to work full time at 37 hrs per week pro-rata, and to those who would like part-time work for a minimum of 18.5 hrs per week pro-rata.

If working part-time this may involve job sharing the role with another part-time member of staff. The role also does not include working Bank Holidays. The full-time roster is shown below. The part-time roster would include free days and would work the same duty pattern.

An enquiry officer provides a professional, first-line quality service to members of the public contacting the Police Station, primarily in person but also by telephone. You will provide advice and assistance on police related matters and general enquiries. Your role is also to support Police services through the operation of administrative, national, force and local computer and communication systems.

You must have good communication skills and possess the ability to remain calm and professional at all times. Have the ability to obtain relevant information and to quickly apply the relevant procedures to a variety of situations with the appropriate tact and firmness, and sensitivity. To be able to deal with callers who may be distressed, injured or disorientated. Keyboard stills, and previous office experience are essential.
