Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals to join the Eastern Regional Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) for vacancies on the Northern Investigation Team based in Suffolk.

The Northern Investigation Team conducts proactive and reactive investigations into serious and complex crimes under the Eastern Region Control Strategy, utilising the most sensitive methods and covert tactics available to Law enforcement.

The post is open to those who have an interest in dealing with serious and complex criminal investigations. As such, candidates will need to evidence the ability to act as OIC and disclosure officer in relation to investigations of this nature. A proven ability to utilise legislation such as Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, Investigatory Powers Act 2016 and Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 to combat organised crime groups is essential.

The successful applicant will be expected to assume responsibility for large scale investigations, interview victims / suspects and prepare evidence for court proceedings as well as completing enquiries in furtherance of the operational objectives.

The applicant will help to drive standards across the Regional Organised Crime Unit in relation to adherence to the mentioned CPIA and SOCPA legislation.

Essential entry requirements:

• Trained and experienced Disclosure Officer.
• Current PIP2 qualification.
• Experience as Officer in the Case for Crown Court cases.
• Experience in dealing with complex proactive crime investigations.
• Sound understanding of covert policing tactics.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

You will be expected to provide written evidence around the minimum entry requirements from the role profile (maximum 500 words).
