Cambs Special Constable 10/20 - 12/20

Special Constable
Cambridgeshire Constabulary
Forcewide
Did you know that as a civilian you can volunteer to become a Special Constable?

Special Constables are volunteer Police Officers. They have the same police powers, uniforms and equipment as regular Police Officers but sacrifice their free time on a voluntary basis. They come from all walks of life and join us for a variety of reasons. Becoming a Special Constable really is one of the most exciting and rewarding voluntary opportunities available!

The Special Constabulary plays an important role in providing additional officers at local events, such as peak times on Friday and Saturday nights. Specials are out on patrol in the community, attending crime scenes, monitoring traffic, and making arrests. Most importantly, the Special Constables act as a safe, reassuring presence for the people of Cambridgeshire working together to fight crime and keep the people safe.

People join the Special Constabulary for many different reasons, many wanting to give something back to the community. It allows them to learn new skills, see new things and make a tangible difference to the lives of the public they serve.

If you’re 18 or over, and can commit to initial training, then you can help keep your community safe as a Special Constable.

The initial training is carried out on Wednesday evenings and weekends daytimes and will include one week doing Monday to Friday 9 to 5. You will need to be available for all training.

A Special Constable is an extraordinary person, a remarkable person, a special person. Join us and be that person.

The role of Special Constable is open to all applicants. However, certain occupations may mean that you are ineligible to apply for the role of Special Constable. These include, but are not limited to: the regular armed forces, traffic wardens/parking attendants, security/door staff, and on-road Highway Traffic Patrol Officers.
