Can you manage CT/DE Intelligence effectively, managing risk to protect our communities and negate threat?

Your skills could help protect the UK. There has never been a more important time to be working in counter terrorism.

Every day offers a variety of exciting challenges and exceptional opportunities played out on a national and often international stage. You’ll be amongst some of the best and brightest – all with a common goal of working to keep people safe.

This advert is open to officers within the region from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

At this time this advert is not open to Essex or Hertfordshire police officers.

ERSOU celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all our Officers and Staff. Where possible we will also consider flexible working requests.

You will be one of 2 Regional CT Intelligence DIs working for ERSOU Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) function. Covering Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk you will be responsible for ensuring that CT/DE intelligence is being managed to the very highest standards, risk is being negated, local forces are being supported and that we are keeping our communities safe. In addition you will support the wider ERSOU CTP regional responsibilities for CT Intelligence and undertake, as required, National travel as part of ERSOU’s responsibilities to the wider national CT network.

Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) hosts the Counter Terrorism Policing function for Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex police forces as part of the Counter Terrorism Policing Network.

ERSOU CT Intelligence is looking for an innovative, collaborative and highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently, represent ERSOU at senior levels and manage a number of teams delivering for 3 forces and the wider ERSOU region.

Within ERSOU CT you will have the chance to learn new skills and be part of a dynamic team operating at the highest level with local, regional and national responsibilities with opportunities for professional development.

Work for us and you will be at the forefront of national security and public safety, working alongside emergency service colleagues, government agencies, intelligence services and the military to help keep all our communities safe.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development Vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. If you hold dual nationality, one component of which is British, you may also be considered. However, if successful, you may be asked to relinquish your non‐British nationality (and any entitlement you may have to a foreign nationality) as a condition of your confirmation of appointment with CTP. One of your parents should also be British or have substantial ties to the UK. In the latter instance; substantial ties means that your parent is a citizen of a British Overseas Territory, a Commonwealth citizen, US citizen, EEA citizen, British national or citizen overseas, and they would need to have demonstrable connections with the UK by way of family history or have been resident here for a substantial period of time.

If you’re already married to, or cohabiting with, a person who isn’t a British citizen, you may still be eligible for employment at the discretion of the department. You should note however, that marriage to, or cohabitation with, a person who isn’t a British citizen after appointment may, in some circumstances, result in the withdrawal of security clearance and subsequent transfer to another department, or (if this is not possible or the officer does not wish to transfer) dismissal. Each case will be considered on its merits, taking into account the ties between the person involved and the United Kingdom.

The post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) before taking up the post. Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
