An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Detective Inspector in the Northern Investigation Team (NIT), Operations Command. The ERSOU investigation teams are comprised of specialist detectives, trained in aspects of covert policing including surveillance, who carry out covert proactive investigations into serious and organised crime. Regional Organised Crime Unit works to tackle serious and organised crime impacting upon the East of England.

 

The Detective Inspector of North Operations is a rewarding and challenging role, acting as Senior Investigation Officer (SIO) for proactive covert investigations undertaken by the investigative syndicate based in West Suffolk. Working against threats tasked by RTTCG, the successful candidate will implement investigative strategies and act as SIO, ensuring that risks are managed and mitigated. The role holder must also ensure the teams are as most effective as can be, and implement processes around armed surveillance protocols, disclosure and complex case management, succession planning and equipment procurement forecasting. The DI Operations has a pivotal role in organising and leading SOC responses across the region. The successful candidate will be an experienced detective with experience of managing complex investigations who will either be PIP3 SOC or will be able to achieve competency in PIP 3 accreditation and in becoming a SOC SIO. Having direct knowledge and experience in covert policing tactics and complex case management will be desirable. There will also be a requirement to participate in an on-call rota regarding access to ROCU assets out of hours. The DI Operations will contribute to delivery of the Mission Vision and Values of ERSOU.

 

Applicants must be a Detective Sergeant, who has passed the Inspector’s exam and is engaged with the current BCH Inspectors process, substantive Detective Inspector with a current PIP2 or PIP 3 accreditation and must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.
